🦠 Hepatitis

Always remember:

“Hepatitis Can’t Wait – Test. Treat. Prevent.”

Let us raise awareness about hepatitis—a silent yet serious threat affecting over 350 million people globally. Many don’t even know they’re infected until liver damage is advanced.

🚨 What is Hepatitis?

Hepatitis refers to inflammation of the liver, commonly caused by viruses (Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E), but also due to alcohol, toxins, medications, and autoimmune diseases.
Additionally, there are non-viral forms of hepatitis, including autoimmune, alcoholic, and drug-induced hepatitis.

Each type of hepatitis varies in severity, mode of transmission, and impact.

Mode of TransmissionVaccineCan It Become Chronic?

A. Contaminated food/water✅ Yes
B. Blood, sexual contact, mother to baby✅ Yes
C. Blood (e.g., unsafe injections)✅ Yes
D. Only in those with Hep B✅ Yes
E. Contaminated water (esp. in pregnancy)✅ Limited

🧪 Why Early Detection Matters

Most forms of hepatitis have no symptoms in early stages. By the time signs like fatigue, yellowing eyes (jaundice), or swollen abdomen appear, it may be too late.

🔍 Get Tested If You:

~Had unprotected sex or multiple partners

~Received blood transfusion before 1992

~Use injected drugs or share needles

~Are a healthcare worker

~Were born to a hepatitis-positive mother

🛡️ How to Protect Yourself and Others:

✅ Get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B
✅ Use clean drinking water & hygienic food
✅ Avoid sharing razors, needles, toothbrushes
✅ Practice safe sex
✅ Insist on sterile equipment for tattoos, dental or medical procedures
✅ Test during pregnancy to prevent mother-to-child transmission

💊 Treatment Saves Lives:

Please Note:

Chronic Hepatitis B and C can lead to cirrhosis, liver failure, or liver cancer. But today, effective antiviral treatments can:
Cure Hepatitis C in over 95% of cases
Control Hepatitis B and prevent progression
